OBITUARY Abdulkarim Ahmad Chmaitelli September 19, 1939 – October 2, 2018 Abdulkarim Ahmad Chmaitelli, 79, died peacefully in his home in Tomball, Texas on October 2nd, 2018. “Abed” as he was known by family and friends was born in Lebanon in 1939 to Ahmad Moustapha Chmaitelli and Sajiah Adbulah Saadi and had 15 siblings. He attended the American University in Beirut, Lebanon where he developed his interests in electrical power.
He immigrated to the US in 1960 to Austin, Texas where he received his degree in Electrical Engineering from The University of Texas in 1964. He took his first and only job with Powell Electrical Manufacturing Company in Houston, Texas where he worked his way up from Electrical Draftsman to Chief Engineer until his retirement in 2008. He met his wife Beverly Kenny in 1968 in Houston, Texas.
Abed’s love of his family was well known as was his love of golf. Abed is survived by his wife Beverly Chmaitelli, his son Stephen K. Chmaitelli, daughter Mary E. Prentice, grandson Alexander Prentice, brother Abdulsalam “Sam” Chmaitelli and many in-laws, family and friends from all over the US and Lebanon. Visitation will take place on Friday, October 5, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with Remarks and Reflections beginning at 6:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home, 18000 Interstate 45 South, The Woodlands, Texas 77384.
