Abelardo Torres July 4, 1939 – December 18, 2018 Abelardo Torres, 79, of Meriden, loving husband of Ramonita (Chaparro) Torres, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at MidState Medical Center in Meriden. Abelardo was born in Aguada, Puerto Rico, July 4, 1939, a son of the late Manuel Torres and Julia (Perez) Torres, and had been a Meriden resident for many years. He was employed by New Departure for many years until his retirement.

In addition to his wife Ramonita, he is survived by his four children Jose A. Torres, Eva Torres, Luis Torres, Celines “Sally” Torres all of Meriden; his grandchildren Tony, Jason, Stephanie and Michael Torres, Eric and Kevin Collazo, Luis and Austin Torres, Lorenzo and Cerina Hernandez; four great grandchildren Dominic, Mason, Dante, Sebastian; his sister Lydia Santiago; his brothers Rolando (Maria) Torres, Ovidio (Awilda) Torres, Olegario (Veronica) Torres; his sister-in-law Reyes Torres. Born: July 4, 1939 Place of Birth: Aguada, PR Death: December 18, 2018 He was predeceased by his siblings Evelio Torres, Ruben Torres, Ramon Torres, Place of Death: Meriden, CT Esteban Torres, and Nelson Torres. Occupation: Abelardo was employed by New Departure for many years His family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, until his retirement.

809 North Main St. Ext. , Friday, December 21, 2018, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held Saturday, December 22, at 10 a.m. in The Wallingford Funeral Home. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Meriden.
