Ada Bonita Montgomery, 80, passed away peacefully at The Abbington Assisted Living Center in Mapleton, Utah surrounded by her family, after a valiant, long battle with Dementia, Diabetes, and other ailments that have been difficult for her. We love her dearly and are heartbroken, because we will miss her, but rejoice that she is now free of both physical and mental anguish! It was a joyous moment in Heaven as she was reunited with her dear husband, after being separated from him 23 years.
Bonita was a loving mother to Victoria Lynn (“Vicky”), and Robert. Her children were her pride and joy! She was born September 16, 1938, in Delta, Utah, a daughter of Linden and Ada Johnson.
She married Dale Judkins Montgomery on May 12, 1968, and was later sealed, for time and all eternity to him and her precious children in the Manti, LDS Temple. Bonita graduated from Hollywood High School in Hollywood, California, where she loved to sing and dance. She was considered for a starring role at MGM Studios as a teenager, but was in a horse riding accident which made it impossible for her to continue.
She loved that time in her life and often spoke of it. She was a graceful dancer, and we are so happy that she is now able to dance freely, once again, in her heavenly home. Bonita was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and held many positions in the church.
Her favorite callings were usually the ones centered around music. Chorister, Primary, Road Show Music Director, etc. Music was important to Bonita, and many of Vicky and Rob’s memories include their mother playing the piano and singing in their home.
She often had the children gather around the piano as they all sang together. She had a beautiful, opera style voice, and was cast in the opera, “Carmen” at the Utah Opera House in Salt Lake City, Utah. Vicky and Robert accompanied her in the children’s choir, a memory they all hold dear.
Bonita is survived by her children, Vicky Drummond, her husband, Bill, and their 3 daughters of Vida, Oregon. Robert Montgomery, his wife, Tiffany, and their 3 children of Springville, Utah. Raymond Montgomery, his wife Carollyn and their 3 children of Sandy, Utah, and her brother, Larry Johnson of Spanish Fork, Utah.
We will miss her so much, but we rejoice in the Plan of Salvation given to us by our loving Heavenly Father and know that we will see her again! It is our family’s belief that Families ARE eternal! We look forward to that glorious reunion someday!
Funeral services will be this Wednesday, May 8th, at The Wheeler Mortuary in Springville Utah at 1:00 PM. Interment will be in Orem, Utah.
