Moriah community, was born July 12, 1931 to Larkin Tillery and Iona Griffen Tillery. She died Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at Luverne Health and Rehabilitation.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 15, 2019 at 11 am from the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home in Troy with the Rev. Ken Oakes officiating. Interment will follow in the Stephens Family Cemetery- Mt.
Moriah with Dillard Funeral Home of Troy directing. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 15, 2019 from 10 am until 11 am at Dillard Funeral Home in Troy, Addie Mae, better known as ‘Granny’ to many, was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a very loving and caring person.
Granny was a devoted Christian who loved and trusted the Lord with all he heart. She was a wonderful cook, known especially for her infamous potato salad. She made everyone that she came in contact with feel loved and welcome.
Addie was known to be a hard worker in the garden whether it be putting up fruits and vegetables or cooking them all. In September 1953, Addie Mae married Hoover Stephens and they were blessed with ten beautiful children. She raised them all, along with many more in the community, and didn’t mind helping other mothers with their children and other responsibilities.
Granny always thought of others and put eveyone’s needs before her own. She was a wonderful person that anyone would inspire to be. From a loving Christian mother to a hard worker for her family and community, Addie lived a magnificent life that her family is proud of.
She is preceded in death by her husband: Hoover Stephens; daughters: infant, Dorothy Stephens, Virginia Ellenburg, and Addie Stephens. She is survived by her children: Michael Stephens, Barbara McQuagge, Luke Stephens (Lisa), Bo Stephens (Kim), Lois Stephens, Michelle Stephens (Calvin), Arch Stephens (Dawn); 17 grandchildren: Marty McQuagge, Benjamin McQuagge, Shannon Stephens, Mathew Stephens, Jerry Stephens, Jerry Stephens, Johnny Warren, Stephanie Gibson, Deloria Ross, Johnathan Stephens, Patrick Stephens, Ashley Bradley, Jessica Allen, Brett Stephens, Camden Reeves, Chris Stephens, Summer Stephens, Hanna Stephens; 18 great grandchildren; sisters: Inez Edwards, Dora Lewis, Dorothy Robbins, Gladys Henson; and brother: Levy Tillery. Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons: Marty McQuagge, Benjamin McQuagge, Mathew Stephens, Jerry Stephens, Johnny Warren, Johnathan Stephens, Patrick Stephens, Brett Stephens, and Tristan Gibson.
