Adrian’s Obituary Adrian Jack Bergers, Sr. Age 87, of Farmington Hills, passed away on January 27, 2019. For 64 years he was the cherished husband of Marilyn (Bintz), his college sweetheart, for whom he always had an “I love you” (and sometimes a Manhattan on the rocks) at the ready. Jack was the mostly patient but eternally adoring father to son, Jack Jr. (Kari) and three daughters, Christine Saip (Bruce), Alicia Dean (Tim), and Jeannine Everett (John), and the beloved Pop of Morgan, Kallie, Troy, Griffin and Jonah.
Possessing a heart as big as his laugh, he was also a loving brother to Jill Stover and brother-in-law to Ted and Marilyn Bintz. Jack loved nothing more than the perfect Saturday; the cars hand-washed, the grass mowed to precision height, beans and tomatoes picked from his garden, the Spartans on the TV (winning, of course), the steaks on the grill and a beer in hand. His popcorn was almost as legendary as his Dad jokes, both of which he was eager to share to anyone willing to partake.
He was the kind of man who put faces on your morning grapefruit, wrote endearments with your green beans and brought home 5 pounds of uncleaned smelt for dinner without apology. He graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in journalism and worked in public relations, but his true talent was the ability to spin a good story like the time he bought two-million-dollar boat shoes so he could get the free yacht that came with them. He sat through countless school events, wishing they were the Muppet Show, but was so proud that by the end that he laughed and cried at the same time.
He loved his friends, and he had many; from mall-walkers, to fellow golfers; from the Knights of Columbus to the Press Club; and from every neighborhood he ever lived in. He was a proud Dutchman who traced his family back multiple generations to his family’s Holland homeland, and tailgated like a pro. We will miss him more than we can put into words.
The Bergers family will receive guests at the funeral home, Thursday, February 21st, from 2-8 pm, with 7 pm prayers. Jack’s funeral mass will be celebrated Friday morning, February 22nd, at 10:00 am (in state 9:30 am), at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 23615 Power Rd. , Farmington.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Angela Hospice or Disabled American Veterans. Please keep the Bergers family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
