Agnes’ Obituary Agnes Deal, 97, of Pierre, died Thursday, May 2nd at Avera Maryhouse Long Term Care in Pierre. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, May 9th at 10:30am at the Maryhouse Chapel in Pierre, with a visitation one hour prior to the services, burial will follow at Scotty Philip Cemetery in Ft. Pierre.

Agnes was born February 5th 1922 to John and Myrtle (Thompson) Jira in Kimball, SD. She grew up and attended school in Kimball and met her future husband Robert Deal. Robert and Agnes were married on July 31, 1941 in Hartington NE.

Shortly after their marriage Robert was deployed for military service. After Robert returned home from the service they made their home south of Ft. Pierre.

They raised their family and worked in the Wendt and Hayes areas for many years before moving to town in 1972. After moving to town Agnes worked for Western Whole Sale for a short time before having a daycare in her home. Agnes enjoyed cooking and living on the farm and had fun raising chickens.

She loved her years at Maryhouse and made many friends, she especially enjoyed playing bingo. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She was even a great great grandmother.

Her family and all the children were at the center of her heart. She always had a positive outlook and was a mother to all. She is survived by her daughters; Barbara (Eldon) Harvey of Mission Ridge, SD, Diane Boyer of Edgeley, ND, Marlys (Ray) Watson of Casper, WY, Susan Deal of Pierre, Deb (Brad) VanWinsen of Pierre and son-in-law Vic Tischer of Rapid City, SD.

She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, 21 great-great-grandchildren and too many nieces and nephews to mention. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert her daughter Beverly Tischer, her parents, 4 brothers, 3 sisters and son-in-law Dick Boyer.
