Alan James MacDonald was called to his Heavenly home on December 18, 2018. Alan was born July 10, 1945 to Army Lt. James Albert and Sallie (Nichols) MacDonald in Saranac Lake, NY.

After being stationed in Falls Church, VA, Ft. Hood, TX, and Anchorage, AK, the family retired to Security, CO where Alan graduated from Widefield High School and met his high school sweetheart and wife of 53 plus years Nancy (Rhein). After high school he attended Western State College in Gunnison, CO.

His children remember him for his consistent positive encouragement and teaching them faith in Jesus Christ, honesty, good work ethic, good sportsmanship, and to always do your best. Alan is survived by his wife Nancy; daughter Christine (Greg) MacDonald; sons James (Kelly) MacDonald and Daniel (Emily) MacDonald; six grandchildren Luke, Samuel, Olivia, Katherine, Grace, and Eli; brother Douglas (Ann) MacDonald; two nieces Michelle (Paul) Hurley and Candice Finkbiner; and nephew Ian (Iryna) MacDonald.

A funeral service will be held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Belgrade, MT, at 10:30 AM on Saturday, December 22, 2018 with internment at Meadowview Cemetery, Manhattan, MT to immediately follow. In lieu of flowers a memorial may be made in his name to Cancer Support Community, 102 S. 11th, Bozeman, MT 59715. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family at www.
