Alan Wayne Mansfield, 73, of Monterey, laid down his working tools, Monday, May 14, 2018. He was born September 19, 1944 in Norfolk, a son of the late Wayne and Lilian (Fenton) Mansfield. Mr. Mansfield enlisted in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War and served as a Military Police Officer.

Following his honorable discharge from the military he went on to become employed as a police officer with San Francisco Police Department. Ultimately, Mr. Mansfield retired as a systems analyst for the U.S. Government. Alan was an avid outdoorsman and die-hard football fan.

Above all, he truly appreciated Freemasonry and held membership in Highland Lodge No. 110 AF & AM, where he was Past Master and sitting Worshipful Master, as well as membership with Staunton Lodge No. 13 AF & AM.

Alan will be remembered by the Brethren as dedicated Mason having volunteered countless hours for each Lodge’s Child I.D. Program, blood drives and events. He is survived by his only son, A. Olin Mansfield and wife, Kendra of Chesapeake; granddaughters, Alexis and Leah Mansfield; sister, Beverly Caudell of Virginia Beach; as well as his best friend, Gene Phelps of Virginia Beach. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Ernie Mansfield and Pat Kenney; and two sisters, Judith Baines and Sandra Gallagher.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, May 24, 2018 at the Highland Masonic Lodge No. 110 with R.W. David W. Hayes officiating. The family suggest memorial contributions be sent to Highland Lodge #110 Building Fund, Attn.
