Albert J. “Jay” Robinson, Jr., age 64, passed away in his Walpole, Massachusetts home on Sunday, February 17, 2019. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on April 28, 1954, he was the son of the late Albert J. and Virginia (Chamberlain) Robinson. He spent his early years in Roslindale before his family settled in Canton when Jay was 13.

During his high school career, Jay played basketball for the Canton High School Bulldogs and was elected Class President before graduating in 1974. Following graduation, Jay took a manager’s position with his brother in law’s store, The Little White Store, in Canton. Jay married his beloved wife, Patricia J. Songin, on September 30, 1989 in Saint Mary’s Church in East Walpole.

Initially they made their home in Canton, where they welcomed their son, A.J. in 1994. As a devoted father, Jay encouraged his son’s love for trains, spending countless hours at Canton Junction watching the trains pass by. Jay went on to take a position at Gorham Fire Appliance in Quincy, working as a fire technician, and moved his family to Norwood, Massachusetts.

Most recently, Jay and Patty settled in Walpole, Massachusetts in 2015. Throughout his life, Jay considered himself a Canton Townie, and was a long-time member of the Canton Town Club. At the Club, Jay was responsible for the membership and enjoyed playing rounds of golf with his fellow members.

Back at home, Jay regularly took on projects around his house which required some attention and enjoyed relaxing while watching his favorite John Wayne movies. Most of all, he was a devoted family man, who treasured the time he spent surrounded by those he loved. He and his son, A.J. shared a special bond over hiking, and he looked forward to their annual hike up Blue Hill on Columbus Day.

Beloved husband of Patricia J. (Songin) Robinson. Loving father of A.J. Robinson of Medford. Brother of Patricia Robinson of Canton, Deborah ton of Canton, Donald Robinson of Canton, MaryAnne Sabin of Hanover, and the late Richard Robinson.

Also survived by many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Jay’s Life Celebration on Thursday, February 21, 2019 from 4 to 8 PM and Friday, February 22, 2019 from 10 to 10:30 AM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Mary’s Church, 176 Washington Street, East Walpole on Friday, February 22, 2019 at 11:00 AM.

Interment will be private at the request of Jay’s family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 300 5th Ave, Waltham, MA 02451.
