Albert Mattern March 21, 1925 – January 28, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers View/Sign Guest Book| Send Sympathy Card ALBERT MATTERN, 93, of Richards, formerly of Houston, completed his earthly journey January 28, 2019 and joined his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in Heaven. Waiting to welcome him to his eternal home was his wife, Mary and son Donald. Albert was born March 21, 1925 in Dobbin, Texas and graduated from Smith’s Institute in Plantersville, Texas.

Afterwards, he had a 32 year dedicated career with American Can Company. Albert built a home with his wife Mary in Richards, Texas where he lived the last forty three years of his life. During this time and until his death, he was an active member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Anderson, Texas.

Albert has served as a member of the Grimes County Farm Bureau since 1978 and has even served in the capacity of director. Albert considered his greatest accomplishment to be a father to his four sons, Mauris, Donald, James and Russell. He loved music and could play a variety of musical instruments including the guitar, harmonica, and drums.

He shared his love of outdoor activities with his wife and kids. He often planted elaborate gardens with his wife Mary, and regularly went hunting and fishing with his sons and grandchildren, a pastime still enjoyed by his family to this day. Left to treasure Albert’s memory are his three sons, Mauris and wife Ginia, James and partner Janice, and Russell and wife Deborah, his seven grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.
