Albert Otto Oman of Boscobel passed away on June 29, 2018 at Geneva Lake Manor, Lake Geneva, WI. He was born to Carl and Anna (Zimpel) Oman. On April 23, 1922 in Boscobel, WI he graduated from Boscobel High School in 1940.

He graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering. in 1944. He married Caroline Sterud on January 14, 1944 in Madison, WI.

They were married for 56 years. After marriage they moved to California where he worked for Union Oil as a research chemist. He returned to Boscobel after WWII to manage the family lumber business for 10 years.

After exiting the lumber business he established Al Oman Plumbing, which he owned for over 30 years. Caroline was active in the business as the bookkeeper. For many years Albert and Caroline lived on a farm near Barnum, WI.

He was a long time businessman in Boscobel, active in St John’s Lutheran Church, the Boscobel Sportsmen’s Club, and Kiwanis. He relished travel with his family throughout the West. He led an active life enjoying gardening and the outdoors.

He was an avid fly angler and a skilled photographer. Some of the highlights in his life were climbing Mt Rainier and the Grand Teton and hiking in the Grand Canyon. After the death of Caroline, he became a close friend of Patricia Murley.

They enjoyed travel in the United States and the beauty of Grant and Crawford Counties. Albert was preceded in death by: wife Caroline; father Carl; mother Anna; sisters Viva, Esther, Ruth, and Edith; and brothers Everett and Harry; and Patricia Murley. Albert is survived by: children; Bruce, Beth, and Allan; five grandchildren; and nine great–grandchildren.

Albert died on June 29, 2018 at Geneva Lake Manor, Lake Geneva, WI. God bless the memory of Albert Otto Oman! Memorials may be given to St. John’s Lutheran Church, Sugar Creek Bible Camp and Geneva Lake Manor.
