Alden’s Obituary Alden M. Nygren 98, of Newman Grove, NE, passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at the Boone County Health Center in Albion, NE. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 4, 2019 at Salem Lutheran Church rural Newman Grove, NE with Rev. Becky Beckmann officiating.

Interment will follow at Salem Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 5 – 7 p.m. at Levander Funeral Home in Albion, NE. Alden Melvin Nygren, son of Melvin and Vedie (Gibson) Nygren was born on October 22, 1920 at Newman Grove, NE.

He was baptized November 21, 1920 and confirmed July 21, 1935 at Salem Lutheran Church. He attended school at Newman Grove and graduated in 1938. On February 6, 1942, Alden was united in marriage to Agnes Kuntzelman.

To this union four children born: Larry, James, Ronald, and Julie. Alden and Agnes raised their family on the family farm. Along with crop farming, Alden and Agnes had a chicken farm when they were first married, then raised cattle and hogs.

He was a lifelong member of the Salem Lutheran Church. Alden loved music and to sing, he sang in a local Quartet, and well as at church and for funerals. Alden loved gardening and was well known for his award winning flower bouquets and roses.

. He was an avid Husker Football Fan. He also loved attending and cheering at any sport his grandchildren and great-grandchildren participated in.

He was very proud of his family and always talked about his “bunch”. He entered the Wolf Memorial Home in January of 2019. Although he was not fond of leaving the farm he was fond of all of the “beautiful” nurses and staff for the care he received.

Alden is survived by four children: Larry Nygren of Fairfeild, CA; James (Nina Nicolas) Nygren of Omaha, NE; Ronald Nygren and wife Jody of St. Edward, NE; and Julie Roehrs of Allen, TX; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter, brothers-in-law Rex Kuntzelman of Fremont, NE, Paul (Melba) Kuntzelman of Hastings, NE, many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Agnes, son-in-law: Kelvin Roehrs; and daughter-in-law: Dee Nygren, brother Carrol (LaVonne) Nygren, and sister Laurel (Max) Flaherty.
