Alfred A. Moore October 01, 1925 – December 27, 2018 Share this obituary View/Sign Guest Book| Send Sympathy Card UPDATE: A memorial service will be held Saturday March 30, 2019 at 10 AM at The Indian Hill Church followed by a reception at The Camargo Club. Alfred A. Moore passed away peacefully on December 27, 2018. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Betty R. Moore, his sons Jeremiah R. Moore (Amy) and William L. Whitehouse III (Liz), his daughters Alexandra Moore-Wulsin (Bill), and Lea Ward.

In addition, he leaves behind 10 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Alfie was born to the late Alexandra Emery McKay and Col. Benjamin Moore.

He is pre-deceased by three children, and one grandchild. Alfie was born on October 1,1925 and grew up in Muttontown, New York. He attended St. Marks Boarding School before joining the Navy in 1943 and attending Officers Training School at Trinity University (and later at Yale University).

He graduated in the class of 1946 and deployed with the Pacific Fleet on the U.S.S. Fall River. After his honorable discharge from the Navy he attended Harvard University. Alfred moved to Cincinnati in 1948 to work at Thomas Emery’s Sons Inc

He met his first wife Sarah C. Moore and had five children Jeremiah, Alexandra, John (dec’d. 1980), Nicholas (dec’d. 1995), and Judith (dec’d.

1957). He remarried Betty R. Moore in 1974, embracing her two children William L. Whitehouse III, and Lea Ward as his own. Alfie was the CEO of Chelsea Moore Corp.

, and was a manager at Thomas Emery’s Sons, LLC. He was an investor in numerous real estate developments and properties. He served on the boards of The American Farm School, The Seven Hills School, The Contemporary Arts Center, and Save the Terminal where he was instrumental in relocating some of the murals at Union Station to the Greater Cincinnati International Airport.

In addition to his community involvement Alfie was an avid fisherman and hunter. Visitation will be held at the Geo. H. Rohde & Son Funeral Home, 3183 Linwood Ave.

, on Sunday December 30, 2018 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. The funeral service will be held at Old Indian Hill Church, 6000 Drake Rd. , Indian Hill on Monday December 31, 2018 at 1:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to University of Cincinnati Foundation – Memory Center Fund, or the Cincinnati Preservation Association.
