OBITUARY Alfred Edward Smith Alfred E. Smith, age 101, of Lincoln, MO, passed away Saturday, July 21, 2018 at the Warsaw Health and Rehab Center in Warsaw, MO. Alfred was born on January 7, 1917, in Minor, South Dakota, the son of Frank and Emma (Bushman) Smith. On August 8, 1942, he was inducted into the United States Army and served overseas in the European-African-Middle East Theater.

He was honorably discharged on April 11, 1946. On August 11, 1946 he was united in marriage to Elma Allen at Early, Iowa. Unto this union, one son and two daughters were born.

Alfred farmed for a short time in Nemaha, Iowa and in 1959, they moved to Kansas City, MO where he joined the Labor Union UAW # 264 of Kansas City, MO. He worked in commercial construction on several projects including the Kansas City Chiefs and Royal stadiums, and was still a union member at the time of his passing. Alfred enjoyed latch hooking and tending to his garden.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Elma, in 2005, and also four brothers, George, Dwayne, Donald and Bob Smith and two sisters, Violia and Lucille. He is survived by his children, one son, Ed Smith, and wife, Sherry, of Trimble, MO, and two daughters, Sharon DeJaynes of Lincoln, MO and Karen Anderson of Camdenton, MO, 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren, one sister, Irene Harris and her husband, Cliff, of Raymore, MO, and other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Alfred E. Smith will be at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, July 28, 2018 at White Chapel Funeral Home in Gladstone, MO with visitation beginning at 10:00 A.M. Interment and military honors will follow funeral services at White Chapel Cemetery, Gladstone, MO.
