Obituary for Alfred Gagliardi Alfred Gagliardi, 90, of Florida and Connecticut, slipped away to join his heavenly father, as the family of children, grandchildren whispered their expressions of love to him. Alfred was born to Quinta and Alfredo Gagliardi and was born on December 18, 1927 in New Britain. He attended New Britain schools, and married his high school sweetheart Joan Lawson, and they just celebrated sixty eight years of marriage.

They had 8 children, 15 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Fred had been employed as a printing supervisor at the Cheshire Correctional Center for 24 years, having learned his trade at Landers, Ferry and Clark at New Britain trade school. Fred was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Union NPA (08), a parishioner of St. Thomas Church and Small Christian Community.

He was an accomplished golfer with a hole in one at Farmington Hills, a gold medalist in mixed doubles tennis with Joan in several senior events, a bocci captain at SLV, and enjoyed riding a bike on the beach at Daytona, Fla. Fred’s sweet, loving, patient and generous nature will be forever remembered. In addition to his wife he is survived by his children John Gagliardi and wife Pam along with their children Cody and Melyssa, MaryAnn Mahony and husband Don and their children Alison Mahony, Chris Mahony and Rachael Haseltine and husband Michael, Linda Calabro and husband Tony, and their children Anthony and Joseph, Thomas Gagliardi and wife Lynne and their children Danielle and TJ, Matthew Gagliardi and wife Gerarda and their children Vincenzo, Giuliana, Gianna , and Karen and husband Alan and their children Adam and Jacob.

He was predeceased by a son Kenneth and daughter Patricia and granddaughter Sofia and eight siblings. Viewing for family and friends will be on Friday, Sept. 14th from 4-7 pm at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. A Memorial Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 am on Saturday, Sept.

15th at St. Thomas Church, 99 Bristol St. Southington Burial will be St. Thomas Cemetery. Donations may be made in his memory to Southington Catholic, 133 Bristol St. Southington, CT 06489 For direction and online condolences please visit www.
