Alfred Henry “J.J.” Johnson, 68, of Portsmouth, passed away Saturday, Dec. 8, 2018 at Cornerstone Hospital in Huntington, WV. He was born Sept.

8, 1950 in Cleveland to the late Alfred Andrew and Dolores Lolita Gomez Johnson, Sr. A Vietnam War Army veteran, J.J. had worked as a corrections officer at SOCF and had attended Living Faith Temple. He is survived by his wife, Eloyse White Johnson; two sons, Michael A. Hughes of Columbus and Demetrius L. Johnson of Portsmouth; four daughters, Kia C. (Charles) Johnson of Columbus, Shahara N. Brown of Dayton, Ambria J. Johnson and Jasmine J. (Marius) Johnson, both of Portsmouth; three siblings, Manuel E. Johnson of Cleveland, Timothy D. Johnson of Portsmouth and Lolita J. Johnson of Bacaville, CA; many grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and their families. In addition to his parents, J.J. was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Janessa D. Johnson; and a sister, Sheila D. Johnson.
