OBITUARY Alfred W. Adam November 22, 1928 – September 19, 2018 Alfred “Al” William Adam died peacefully at Fairgreen Assisted Living Facility in New Smyrna Beach, Florida on September 19, 2018 at the age of 89. Al is survived by his three sons, one daughter and their spouses; Bernard and Barbara (Trombley) Adam; James and Curt (Camp) Adam; Cynthia Hutchinson and Dennis and Denita (Martinez) Adam. 5 Grandchildren, 2 Step Grandchildren, 6 Great Grandchildren, 5 Step Great Grandchildren and 2 Step Great Great Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 48 years, Mildred “Millie” (Wright) Adam, two brothers, four sisters and three half-brothers; Ada, Harrett, Mary, Frank, Dorothy, Frederick, John, William and Charles. Al was born on November 22, 1928 in Brattleboro, Vermont to Frederick John Adam and Hattie Elizabeth Bruce. He spent his early years in Brattleboro before joining the U.S. Air Force before the end of World War II.

He married Millie on April 8, 1946. After the war ended, Al returned to Brattleboro and worked for D & D Service Center (Esso) before becoming a firefighter for the Brattleboro Fire Department. Al and Millie raised their four children in Brattleboro, Vermont.

Al retired from the BFD and he and Millie moved to Florida. He worked at Documentation/Storage Tek then went to work for Dictaphone in Melbourne, Florida until his retirement. Eventually all of their children followed them to Florida and continued to raise Al and Millie’s grandchildren in the Palm Bay and Melbourne area of Florida.

Al was a member of the Masons, Eagles, Elks, VFW, and the American Legion. A private service was held for immediate family. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Palm Bay Florida Fire Department and/or the Brattleboro Vermont Fire Department.

The family would like to thank the Vitas Hospice caregivers, as well as the staff at Brilliance Assisted Living and Fairgreen Assisted Living for their loving care of Al in his final months and days.
