Obituary for Mr. Alfred W. Barry Jr. Alfred W. Barry, Jr. passed away peacefully on July 13, 2018 at Stella Maris Hospice following a 10 month stay in Keswick Multi-Care. He was born on September 14, 1923 in Rochester, NY and later grew up in New York and Philadelphia before moving to Baltimore to attend Johns Hopkins University. While at Hopkins he enlisted in the Army and served honorably in the Aleutian Islands.

He returned to Hopkins where he graduated in 1948 with a degree in economics and where he met his first wife, Dolores Keating and had four children until she died suddenly in 1965. After Hopkins, he began a 40 year career with Brockway and Mack Trucks, retiring as Baltimore Sales Manager. In the 1960s he also started a second business servicing trucks and trailers for the Norfolk Baltimore and Carolina freight company out of property in Fells Point until the City condemned the property for the never completed Interstate.

He was an avid gardener and woodworker, helping all his children with their home renovations into his 90’s while also enjoying a mile-long walk each day from his home on Pot Spring Road. He was preceeded in death by his brother, Patrick Barry; his mother Aida Kunkeli Barry; his father, Alfred Wald Barry, Sr.; his wife, Dolores Keating Barry; and his wife of 37 years, Ginna Rouse Barry (nee Ganzhorn). He is survived by 8 children: Alfred Wald Barry III (Ginny), of Baltimore; John Keating Barry (Betsy), of Baltimore; Mary Patricia Rouse of Ithaca, NY; Chip Rouse of Lutherville, MD; Suzanne Cordley Barry of Malvern, PA; Nancy Keating Barry of Decorah, IA; Owen John Rouse (Anne), of Baltimore; Mary Lee Scott of Orlando, FL and 7 loving grandchildren; Bryan, Patrick, Caroline, Emily, Alice, Catherine and William.

A viewing will be held at the Mitchell-Wiedefeld Funeral Home at 6500 York Road on Thursday, July 19th from 4-7 pm. A Mass will be held on Friday, July 20th at St Joseph Catholic Church, 101 Church Lane Cockeysville, MD 21030 at 10:30 am. Please omit flowers.
