Obituary for Alice Adams “Tumpy” Hudnall Alice Adelaide Adams “Tumpy” Hudnall, 92, of Spartanburg, SC, died Wednesday, October 24, 2018, at Eden Terrace of Spartanburg. Born December 6, 1925, in Macon, GA, she was the only child of the late James Horatio and Adelaide Fishel Adams. She was the widow of Rev.

Dr. Michael Benjamin Hudnall, Jr. whom she married on June 15, 1946. Tumpy was a graduate of Seneca High School, Winthrop College, and the University of South Carolina. She was a resident of Eden Terrace for the past 12 years and lived throughout the State of SC as a United Methodist Minister’s wife, supporting her husband in his ministry.

In 1990, the Hudnall family was honored as South Carolina Family of the Year. As an educator, Tumpy was selected as one of five finalists for SC Teacher of the Year. A dedicated Clemson fan, she received the “Spirit of the Tiger” Award from the Clemson University Women’s Basketball Team.

Her artistic talents included decorating eggs for Christmas, Easter, and special occasions, as well as painting landscapes. She and Ben enjoyed traveling the world, cheering on the Clemson Tigers, and spending time with their family. She was the mother of five children, Dr. Alice Cash (Crystal) of Louisville, KY, Norma Anne Hudnall of Spartanburg, SC, Dr. Mike Hudnall (Melody) of Greensboro, NC, Mrs. Nancy Hudnall Waters (Cal) of Easley, SC, and Dr. Cathie Hudnall (Reid) of Atlanta, GA; six grandchildren, Julia Cash Mayo (Tom), Calvin Rodney Waters (Amber), Alison Cash Spiro (Will), Elizabeth Anne Cash, Charles Michael Waters (Ally), and Matthew Michael Hudnall; and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 4:30-6:00 PM Saturday, October 27, 2018, at Central United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, 233 N. Church St., Spartanburg, SC 29306. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Sunday, October 28, 2018, at Central United Methodist Church, by The Rev. Drs.

Tom Norrell and L. H. Buff. The committal service will follow at 4:00 PM in Mountain View Cemetery, 408 N. Fairplay St., Seneca, SC 29678, with The Rev. Dr. Charles Johnson officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Central United Methodist Church, 233 North Church Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306; Clemson United Methodist Church, 300 Frontage Road, Clemson, SC 29631; or St. Mark United Methodist Church, 616 Quincy Road, Seneca, SC 29678. The family would like to thank the staff of Eden Terrace for their care of Tumpy these last 12 years. The family is at the home of her daughter, Nonie Hudnall.
