Obituary for Alice Giombetti Alice Giombetti of Jessup died Tuesday November 13, 2018 at the Hospice of the Sacred Heart Inpatient Unit following a courageous battle with cancer. She was the widow of Robert A. Giombetti who died on September 9, 2016. Born in Scranton she was the daughter of the late Charles Gladstone and Helen “Nell” Broadhurst Hillier.

A graduate of Scranton Technical High School, Class of 1952. Alice was an extremely creative person and after her children entered middle school she opened the first of her two clothing boutiques, The Wardrobe in Jessup and later, The Clothes Wagon in Peckville. In the early 1980’s, Alice turned to her passion for quilting and opened the Quilt Corner with her dear friend, the late Jean Chapman.

Alice’s work was featured in many magazines and publications and as a Master Quilter she began to teach seminars all over the country. A portion of her body of work was showcased in many local and national quilt shows. She never retired from teaching and learning her craft and was watching videos and trying to design projects as late as last week.

Alice’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Lisa Thomas and Dr. Linda Thomas-Hemak and the nurses and staff at Hospice of the Sacred Heart for all of their kind and compassionate care. Surviving are son Dr. Robert J. Giombetti and wife Lisa, Los Angeles, California, and their children Matthew and Erin; daughters Attorney Kim Giombetti, Peckville, and her daughters Maia, Lanie, and Ava, Kara Schermerhorn and husband Attorney Scott Schermerhorn, Archbald, and their children Madison, Morgan, and Greyson, and Dina Giombetti with whom Alice resided, and her daughters Tori and Allie; sister Ann Munley, Scranton; sisters-in-law Mary Lynn O’Donnell, Jessup and Theresa Hillier, Scranton. She was preceded in death by brothers Paul and William Hillier.

The funeral will be conducted Tuesday from the Arthur A. Albini Funeral Home, 1003 Church St., Jessup, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Queen of Angels Parish in St. Michael’s Church, First Avenue, Jessup. Interment, St. John’s Cemetery, Jessup. Everyone attending the funeral is asked to proceed directly to church.
