Alice Pearl Croft, born on August 16, 1946 in Tacoma, Washington, to the late Nellie B. Croft and the late Bliss H. Croft, passed away at age 72 on January 16, 2019 in Gainesville, Florida. Alice was the loving wife of the late Walter E. Hyams. She is survived by her brothers, Hugo (Carolynn) Croft and Kelly (Kathy) Croft; and sisters, Chris (Larry) Childers and Melanie (Jim) Dempsey.

She enjoyed an extended family of nieces, nephews and cousins as well. Alice was proud to call herself an “Army brat,” having been born into a career military family. She and her siblings were stationed around the globe, never staying too long in one place.

Alice began her career in Richmond, VA where she attended the Pan American Business School. She was employed by Cargill Advertising Agency and moved to Jacksonville, Fl with that company in 1969. She continued to work in advertising with the William Cook Advertising Agency where she kept up many lasting friendships over the years.

Finally, she worked at the University of Florida for over 30 years primarily in the Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences from which she retired. She loved to travel and visit with friends and family, she especially loved the beach. In recent years she had begun taking guitar lessons, which she really enjoyed.

Alice cherished her church family-who supported her throughout her cancer journey. Her family would like to thank all of the caregivers and friends for their love and support. Out of town arrangements are buy Reeves Funeral Home will be handling arrangements, 3308 North Main Street, Hope Mills, North Carolina, 28348.

Services will be held at a date yet to be determined. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Keystone Heights, FL or the Lymphedema Advocacy Group. Obituary submitted by the family.
