Obituary of Alice Austin Alice Rae Austin, passed away peacefully at 82 years old on June 3, 2018 at her home in North Wildwood, NJ. Alice was born on September 25, 1935 in Philadelphia, PA, the daughter of Alice Elizabeth Ayers Saddington and Raymond Saddington. Alice loved her family and friends.

She supported her family and lived to help others by working in the medical field most of her life. Alice was an administrator at the Philadelphia State Hospital at Byberry, PA. She served as a nurse at Crest Haven in Cape May Court House, NJ for over 20 years, worked as a private nurse, and fulfilled many roles at the Family Practice of Dr. Renza in Wildwood Crest, NJ.

Throughout her career Alice loved her patients and found her work very rewarding. Alice enjoyed playing games from Canasta to Scrabble. She enjoyed her treats like frappes and fudge from the boardwalk and dining at her favorite restaurants, Dino’s Diner and Rio Station.

Her main enjoyment was cheering on the Wildwood High Basketball teams with Putt. Alice is survived by her longtime loving companion of more than 30 years, Howard ‘Putt’ Palmer; her son, Robert Raymond Despo and wife Cheryl Despo, her son, Ronald Randall Despo; her granddaughter, Christina Dones and husband Oscar Dones; and her great grandchild, Drussie Dones. There is an open visitation with the family on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 from 10am to 11am with the memorial service starting at 11am at the Calvary Chapel Cape May, 596 Seashore Road, Cape May, NJ 08204.

A reception will be held at the chapel following the service. In lieu of flowers, Alice requested donations be made to Calvary Chapel Cape May.
