Obituary of Alice Ryan Alice Victoria Ryan (nee Johnson), age 92 years, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 26, 2018, at United Methodist Communities in Pitman. Alice was born October 10, 1926 in Philadelphia. She was married to Lawrence J. Ryan in Philadelphia in 1949 and they moved to Pitman in 1950.
Alice was preceded in death by her son, Eric Geiges in 1961 and her husband in 1996. She is survived by her sisters Faith Heinz (Peter) and Bertha Churchill (Kenneth), son Daniel (Susan), daughter Lauren Stewart (Jim), and grandchildren Patrick and Laura. After Alice’s husband retired from duPont, she took up part-time employment at various locations in downtown Pitman, including the Pitman Library where she enjoyed suggesting good books to patrons.
Alice will be remembered for her independence of mind and the strength of her opinions regarding current events. She was fond of her cats and watching nighttime soap operas. She was loved by her family and will be missed.
In lieu of flowers, Alice was an avid reader and she would have been most pleased if you donate a good book to someone in her memory. Funeral services will be private at Kelley Funeral Home, Pitman. Memories may be shared at www.
