Obituary for Allen “Buck” Partin Graveside services for A. W. “Buck” Partin, 97, of Portales, will be held at 10:00 AM, Tues. , Oct. 2, 2018 in the Portales Cemetery with Bruce Rokus officiating, assisted by Ben Partin.

Allen Wenston Partin, known to family and friends as “Buck,” was born Oct. 27, 1920 in Weatherford, TX to the home of Elsie Grace (Baker) and Pete Kervin Partin, and died early on the morning of Sept. 29, 2018 at his home.

Buck grew up in the Weatherford area, and served in the US Army during World War II. On Nov. 19, 1942 in Alexandria, LA, he was married to Eva Riley.

After Buck returned home, he moved to California and later to Fort Worth before coming to this area in 1948. They settled in the Arch community where Buck farmed with his father-in-law. They moved briefly back to California in late 1958, but returned to Portales in the fall of 1959.

Buck began working at Prince Welding Supply. In the early 1970’s, he and his brother-in-law, Clifford Corbin and a friend, Walter Burleson purchased the business and renamed it Eastern Welding Supply. Buck retired in 1984.

Since then he bought and sold houses, cars, boats and campers among other things. In addition, he drove cars for the local car dealerships. He was a member of the Third and Kilgore Church of Christ.

He is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Pam Partin of Clovis, Jerry and Karla Partin of Portales, Marvin and Ellie Partin of Albuquerque and Gary and Delma Partin of Portales; a daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Jim Chandler of Floyd and another daughter-in-law, Kay (Mrs. Grady) Partin of Queen Creek, AZ; 13 grandchildren, Richard (Anne) Partin, Lori (Calvin) Houston, Daniel (Denessa) Partin, Colin (Tammy) Chandler, Lorin (Ponda) Chandler, Tracy (Jeremy) Altman, Emily (Jeff) Huddleston, Ben (Kristin) Partin, Skyler Partin, Walker (Ashleigh) Partin, Brittany (Freddy) Mondragon, Paige Partin and Steven Partin; 24 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, Agnes Anderson, Lois Williams, Esther Morrison and Opal McCowan; a granddaughter, Angela Partin, a son, Grady Partin who died July 1, 2018, and by his beloved wife, Eva, who died July 12, 2005 after nearly 63 years of marriage.
