Alvina B. Mies, 83 of Cold Spring, formerly of Watkins, passed away on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at the Assumption Home in Cold Spring. A Mass Of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, January 14, 2019 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Watkins. Fr.
Aaron Nett and Fr. Tom Andert will concelebrate. Gift Bearers will be granddaughters, Abby and Regan Mies.
Casket Bearers will be grandsons, Mike and Paul Ruegemer, Alex, Nicholas, Bradley, Sawyer, Alton and Anson Mies. Interment will be at St. Anthony Cemetery, Watkins. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 10:30 on Monday, January 14, 2019 at the St. Anthony Catholic Church in Watkins.
Alvina was born on September 22, 1935 in Farming to John and Veronica (Gertken) Brinkman. On June 7, 1958, Alvina was united in marriage to Anthony (Tony) Mies at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Farming. They resided in Watkins where Tony and Alvina owned and operated Mies Equipment until their retirement in 1997.
Alvina was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Watkins and she was active with the Council Of Catholic Women and the Catholic Aid. In her younger years, Alvina was an avid golfer and seamstress. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, traveling, wintering in Arizona and spending time with her family and friends.
Alvina is survived by her children and their spouses, Vickie (Al) Ruegemer of Cold Spring, Karen (Tom) Stelmak of Belgrade, MT, Steve (Roberta) Mies of Cold Spring, Brian (Linda) Mies of Kimball, Jeff (Susan) Mies of Cold Spring; grandchildren, Mike (Becca) Ruegemer of Richmond, Paul (Becca) Ruegemer of Avon, Alex Mies of Richfield, Bradley Mies of Mpls. , Sawyer Mies of Kimball, Nicholas Mies of Mpls. , Abby Mies, Regan Mies, Alton Mies, and Anson Mies, all of Cold Spring; great grandchildren, Ben, Collin, Nolan and Nate Ruegemer; brothers and sisters and their spouses, Fran Winters of Sauk Centre, Lorraine (Don) Jungels of Cold Spring, Cora (Lyle) Dougherty of Vancouver, WA, Werner (Donna) Brinkman of St. Augusta, Melvin Brinkman of Rogers, David (Janet) Brinkman of Paynesville, Diane (Dennis) Heying of Richmond, Judy Klehr of Richmond, Doris (Michael) Paranteu of Maple Grove, Sandy (Marc) Booth of St. Croix Falls, WI; sisters-in-law, Sharon Brinkman of Cold Spring, Mary Brinkman of Richmond, Mary Ellen McKibben of Sun City, AZ and Delrose Mies of Albertville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Veronica (Gertken) Brinkman; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Mike and Albina (Deutsch) Mies; husband, Tony; brothers, Ralph and Kenneth Brinkman; brothers-in-law, Peter and Verlin Mies, Delbert Klehr, Scott McKibben, Ambrose Molitor, Rowloe Cassidy and Bud Winters; sisters-in-law, Gayle Brinkman, Lucille (Mies) Kammemeier, Evelyn (Mies) Overlin and Norma Mies.
