ALVINA’s Obituary Alvina Ott, Binford passed away on December 18, 2018 at the Griggs County Care Center. Alvina was born April 22, 1921 in Steele County to William and Cora (Johnson) Peterson. She was baptized and confirmed at Hofva Lutheran Church.

Alvina attended elementary school at Riverside School #2 and also took high school correspondence courses. She started helping her parent’s milk cows when she was 9. Her first experience driving a team of horses pulling a loaded grain cart was to the Blabon elevator down a steep hill.

Growing up, Alvina worked for relatives and neighbors and learned how to cook and bake while doing so. She was known for her homemade bread and buns. She and Johnny Ott were married November 28, 1941 in Valley City.

They were members of Zion Lutheran Church, rural Binford, ND. She taught Sunday School and was treasurer of Zion Lutheran LMWL for 27 years. She gave perms and fixed hair for many relatives and friends.

She enjoyed attending to her vegetable and flower gardens. Alvina and Johnny enjoyed square dancing. They attended a state square dancing convention and were featured in a clogging event.

Alvina leaves behind her children, Elaine Smith of Cooperstown ND, Janice Fevold of Lonsdale MN, Larry Ott of Binford ND and Linda Tangen of Northwood ND; her grandchildren Janel (Dave) Sayler, Rollie (Janet) Smith, Lori (Curt) Zimmer, Garrett (Mary) Smith, Rob (Sherry) Smith, Teresa (Marc) Peterson, James Fevold, Max (Tiffany) Tangen and TJ Tangen and his fiancé Courtney, 15 great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter, her brother Clarence (Peggy) Peterson, Cooperstown, ND and sister-in-law Esther Peterson, Finley, ND, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Johnny, son Rodney, and siblings Lawrence (Isabelle) Peterson, Warren Peterson and Connie (Harlowe) Loge and sister-in-law Bonnie Peterson, sons-in-law, Jerold Smith and Todd Tangen. Funeral services will Saturday, December 22, 2018 at 10:30 am in Zion Lutheran Church, rural Binford, ND.

Visitation will be Friday, December 21, 2018 from 5:00 till 7:00 in the Quam-Plaisted-Cushman Funeral Home, Cooperstown, ND and one hour before services. A Prayer Service will be at 7:00 pm in the Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Zion Cemetery, rural Binford, ND.
