Obituary for Alyson Michelle Amour Alyson Michelle Amour of Berlin, NJ passed away on November 28, 2018 at the age of 36. She was the beloved daughter of Maureen G. Hitchens (stepfather Preston W. Hitchens) and the late John W. Amour Jr She is survived by her brother, Christopher R. Amour and his fiancée, Crystal Kuttim.
She was loved by Audrey B. Klich of Haddon Township, NJ, who Alyson adored as a second mother. She was loved by Nathalie Kurzawa of Marlton, NJ, who Alyson saw as an older sister. She was predeceased by her maternal grandmother, Mary P. Twells and her maternal grandfather, John R. Twells.
She is survived by her aunt, Leslie Twells of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. She was predeceased by her uncle, Michael Twells of Ft.
Lauderdale, whom she adored. She is survived by a paternal grandmother, Bessie T. Amour and predeceased by her paternal grandfather John W. Amour. She is survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
She adored three family dogs, Chloe, Sophie and Mickey. Alyson loved her mother more than life itself and the two would often escape for an hour, a day or a weekend. Her mother loved Alyson and will miss her smile, her love and her presence.
Alyson was a talented student, having graduated from Cherokee High School and Raritan Valley Community College (magna cum laude). She was one semester away from her bachelor’s degree in English from Rutgers University-Camden where she maintained a 3. 8 GPA and was on the dean’s list every semester.
She was a member of the Rutgers Mountainview Program and had spoken all over the United States to students of all ages on the perils of addiction. Alyson had many interests including music, dance, photography and travel. She enjoyed a memorable trip with her Uncle Mike and Aunt Leslie to Hawaii, where she flew over a volcano.
She joined Gary LeVox and Rascal Flatts on stage in Virginia Beach, VA. She was an avid animal lover and had volunteered at numerous local shelters. She was a Walt Disney fan, with her beloved Donald Duck her favorite character.
In her youth, she enjoyed organized dance, and competed at various dance competitions on the East Coast with Jazz Unlimited of Evesham Township, NJ. Alyson was a perfectionist, and worked hard on any assigned project, be it for work or school. She challenged life and overcame many challenges in her 36-year life.
She loved her family and her friends completely. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Mountainview Program (STEP) at Rutgers University, Rutgers Business School, Room 4044, 100 Rockefeller Road, Piscataway, NJ 08054 (Attention: Christopher Agans) or Steered Straight, Inc., PO Box 579, Vineland, NJ 08362-0579. A celebration of Alyson’s life will be held at Earle Funeral Home—BLACKWOOD location, 122 West Church Street, Blackwood, NJ, 08012, at 7:00 PM, Monday, December 3, 2018.
