Amanda Jeanette (Lane) Gillette, 39, of Hinckley, peacefully joined her Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 20, 2018, surrounded by numerous loving family and friends at Central DuPage Hospital. Amanda suffered a massive stroke on Monday, December 17, just 2½ weeks after being diagnosed with lung cancer. Amanda leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband Matt and daughter Madison Gloria Jane; parents Robert Lane (FL), Susan and Chuck Timm, Kirk and Dianne Gillette (GA), and Joanne Milo and Jon Fleshman (KY); siblings: Kristin Lane (Rafael Salgado), Justin Lane, Meredith Mastin (GA), Chad (Cindy) Timm (KY), Amy (Rich) Groezinger, and Kelly (Adam) Leggero; aunts and uncles: Herb Haskin and Jane Casey (VA), Ed and Doris Haskin (TX), Ben Haskin (OH), Jenny and Larry Trombley (SC), Kathleen Haskin (TN), Linda and John VanPlew, Mark Lane, Daniel and Debra Brown, Karen Poquette, Thomas Gillette, William Gillette, Barbara Gillette Jennings, Douglas Whitesell Jr., and Lewis Whitesell; and Grandmother Jane Gillette.
She also enjoyed many other family members from nieces and nephews, a great niece, and numerous cousins. Amanda joins in heaven her sister-in-law Courtney Gillette; maternal and paternal grandparents: Howard and Teresa Haskin, Orville Lane, and Joyce Hemphill; Matt’s grandfathers and maternal grandmother, Douglas and Mary Whitesell and Leroy Gillette. Amanda was born in Plattsburgh, NY on April 16, 1979, to Robert and Susan.
In 1984 Amanda’s family moved to Batavia where she developed strong relationships, many lasting 34 years. She graduated from Batavia High in 1997. Amanda married Matt in 2007; their daughter was born in 2015.
Amanda worked at L J Morse Construction Company in Aurora, IL for 16 years. She was dearly loved by all who worked there. Her work family said, “There is no doubt we’ll miss her loud voice caring throughout the halls, her music playing at a high volume because it ‘helped her think,’ and positive attitude toward life”.
Often referred to as the life of the party, Amanda enjoyed activities that brought people together. One cousin wrote, “Her love for life and positivity were immediately noticed by all who met her. She hit the dance floor harder than anyone, made everyone laugh that surrounded her, and spread her contagious joy to all”.
Amanda’s services will be held at New Covenant Bible Church, 4N780 Randall Rd, St. Charles. Visitation is Friday, January 4, 2019, 4-8 p.m. Celebration of Life is Saturday, January 5 (12 noon-1:30 p.m.). In lieu of flowers, donations are being taken to help pay for Madison’s education and medical bills.
