Amy A. Harnish, 83, wife of Ronald A. Harnish of Rockport, passed away peacefully on Monday March 4, 2019, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born in New London, CT on December 11, 1935 daughter to the late Ira and Amy (Bartholomew) Hillyer. Amy was a graduate of WMI The Williams School in New London and attended the University of Connecticut.

As a young lady she had worked in New London as a dietician. She later met and married Ron in 1956. Together they raised seven children at their home in Rockport.

Amy was very devout in her faith and was a former Sunday School Teacher at St. Joachim’s Church. Amy loved cooking, sewing, as well as attending all her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events. Her favorite pastimes were boating, skiing, crossword puzzles, scrabble, international travel and by far her favorite, numerous trips to Disney World.

Amy was a longtime member of the Bass Rocks Golf Club and Spruce Creek Country Club in Daytona Beach. The Harnish family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Amy’s caregivers Lesa Bennett and Tracey Schwartz for all their assistance over the past few years. In addition to her husband Ron she is survived by her seven children son Ron and wife Carol, daughter Karen and husband Wayne Derouin, son Eric and wife Amy, son Glenn and wife Marybeth, daughter Ellen and husband Don Allan, son Adam and wife Michelle, son Jeff and wife Jaime, 20 grandchildren Colleen, Michael, Brian, Holly, Derek, Megan, Logan, Rebecca, Matthew, Lauren, Nicholas, Kathryn, Mary, Christopher, Elise, Rydan, Aila, Olivia, Ava and Jacob, 3 great-grandchildren Greyson, Keegan and Emmett Amy was pre-deceased by her brother Ira “Bud” Hillyer.

Her funeral mass will be held on Saturday, March 9th at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Good Voyage Church. Extended family and friends are cordially invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester.
