Andrew Deshields was born September 23, 1939 in Bethel, DE to Charlie and Levenia Deshields (Hillon). Andrew attended Paul Laurence Dunbar School in Laurel, DE. Andrew married Dorretta Hitchens in 1962; to this union was born four children.

Andrew worked as a truck driver. He loved church and always talked about how good God was. Andrew attended the Apostolic Faith Church in Ellendale, DE from the age of 12 under the leadership of Bishop Johnson.

Andrew later joined the First Church of Lord Jesus Christ in Delmar, DE. Andrew Deshields departed this life on Monday, December 3, 2018 at Bayhealth Hospital in Dover, DE. He was preceded in death by his father, Charlie Wesley Deshields; mother, Levenia Edna Deshields; siblings, Leon Deshields, James Deshields, Charles Deshields, John Henry Deshields, Edna Stanley, Sarah Deshields and Helen Deshields.

Andrew leaves to cherish his memory a loving and devoted family; four children, Jeff A. Deshields (Pearl) of Greenwood, DE, Jeffrey A. Deshields, Sr. (Shirlene) of Dover, DE, Marvin A. Deshields (Katrina) of Felton, DE and Raymond B. Deshields of Felton, DE; two sisters, Betty Lewis of NJ and Levenia Smith of Concord, DE; 13 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; two great great granddaughters; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and devoted friends. A funeral service will be Noon Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming, DE 19934 where there will be a viewing from 10:00 A.M. until Noon on Tuesday. Burial will be private.
