Obituary for Andrew C. Klem Dateline St. Anthony, IN Andrew C. Klem, age 93, of St. Anthony, Indiana, passed away at 2:25 a.m. on Friday, December 14, 2018, at Brookside Village in Jasper, Indiana. Andy was born in St. Anthony, Indiana, on March 16, 1925, to Anthony and Katie (Hasenour) Klem. He married Valada Bartley on August 28, 1947, in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana.

She preceded him in death on March 8, 2010. He was a United States WWII Army Veteran, where he was a sergeant in the 492nd Quartermaster Company. He was the owner of Klem Construction Company, which he had started in 1949.

He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, St. Anthony Community Center, St. Anthony American Legion Post #493, V.F.W. Post #673, and the Holy Name Society. He was the past president and on the Board of Directors for the St. Anthony Water Utility Company, past president of the St. Anthony Community Center, where he served two terms, served on the Advisory Board of the Former Dubois County Bank, was past board member of the St. Anthony Investment Organization, co-founder of the Original B&G Tire and Supply Company in Jasper, and former member of the Dubois County Builders Association. He received the 25 year pin for the St. Vincent de Paul Society and received the Brute Award along with his wife.

He enjoyed driving his truck, mowing, and going to the casino. Surviving are three sisters, Loretta Humbert, Celestine, IN, Clarissa Gehlhausen, Jasper, IN, Anna Betz, St. Anthony, IN, several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death besides his wife are three sisters, Leona Jahn, Frances Klem, and Ardella Humbert, and two brothers, Edward and Alois Klem.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Andrew C. Klem will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 18, 2018, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, in St. Anthony, Indiana, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The St. Anthony American Legion Post #493 will conduct military gravesite rights. A visitation will be held from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday, December 17, 2018, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, Indiana, and one hour before services from 9:00-10:00 a.m. at the church on Tuesday.
