Ann Legare, 92, of Wahpeton, ND, died peacefully with family at St. Catherine’s Living Center on January 3, 2019. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by her memorial mass at 11:00 am at the St. Catherine’s Living Center Chapel in Wahpeton. Rev.

Dale Lagodinski will officiate. Arrangements are entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton. Ann was born on November 25, 1926 to Justina (Eva) Nykoluc and Jacob Darchuk in Scobey, MT.

She grew up on a farm outside of Scobey. After high school Ann worked at the local hospital as a nurse. This is where she met her husband, Raymond Legare.

They were united in marriage June 21, 1954. The couple built their home in Flaxville, MT where they raised their five children (all born within six years). In August 2010 Ann moved to Wahpeton to be close to her oldest daughter.

Ann was a master in the kitchen and was famous for her buns, caramel rolls, and Halloween popcorn balls. She found her peace in her yard. She raised her children on fresh produce from her gardens and her yard was always beautifully bright with her flower beds, evergreens, and the many birds that loved her feeders.

She had a “green thumb”, anything and everything grew for her! Ann spent many hours crocheting afghans and embroidering kitchen towels for family and friends. Her coffee pot and cards were always ready when anyone stopped by.

In her later years, she spent more time reading and putting very large puzzles together. Ann lived a full life and brought much joy and fun to many people. She will be missed.

Ann is survived by her five children: Linda (Bruce) Woytassek, Wahpeton, ND; Jim Legare, Williston, ND; Bonnie (Bob) England, Great Falls, MT; Yvonne Hanson, Denver, CO; Janet Graff, Williston, ND; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; brothers, Daniel and Harold; and parents, Eva and Jacob. A special thanks to all the staff at Sienna Court and St. Catherine’s Living Center.

Ann always said she felt “loved” by the staff. This is the greatest comfort loved ones can have. Thanks to CHI Hospice for their care during her last weeks of life.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to St. Catherine’s Living Center.
