Obituary for Ms. Anna Bell Brown Anna Bell Stokes Brown A Beautiful 89 years of age (Sunrise: March 25, 1929 – Sunset: June 1, 2018) To everything, there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted… (Ecclesiastes 3:1-2) Anna Bell Stokes Brown, the daughter of the late Preston Stokes and Addie Joyner Stokes, was born on March 25, 1929, in Duplin County, North Carolina. She departed her blessed life on Friday morning, June 1, 2018, at her residence at 113 Moore Allen Street, Dudley, NC where she most recently resided with her niece, Ms. Thelma Oliver. Anna was married for 52 years to the late OB Brown and was the dedicated and loving mother to the late Jerry Duane King.

She received her education in the Wayne and Duplin County School Systems in North Carolina. Upon completion of her education, she relocated her residence to Cleveland Ohio where she resided for over 65 years until the recent decline of her health. During her early years, she was employed by the Ford Motor Company in Ohio, and later at the Stouffer’s Plant in Ohio, where she retired.

She was a hard worker throughout her years and took such pride in her successful employment. She established her spiritual membership St. Timothy Missionary Baptist Church in Cleveland Ohio. Anna, who was lovingly called Aunt Bell or Aunt Annie Bell by many, was a classy lady with such elegance.

She had a love for shopping and looking her best. She had a special fondness for floral designs, gardening, and traveling. One of her God-given features was the love she had for her family.

Although hundreds of miles from her immediate family for so many years, she always had a direct way of always being close by the sincere love she expressed through weekly phone calls and hand-written letters and cards. Anna had such a giving nature and generous heart that blessed so many. If there was a need, she was there to assist in any way that she could.

She was truly a blessed woman of God – Matthew 5:16 (KJV), Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. In addition to her parents, husband, and son, Anna was preceded in death by her sister, Madlen Stokes Oliver, and brothers Bernice Stokes, Jason Stokes, and Jeffrey Stokes. Aunt Annie Bell / Aunt Bell leaves to cherish her precious memories with Thelma Oliver, Geraldine Allen, Yvonne Davis, Lillian Oliver-Ashford, and Randy Oliver, who cared for her physical healthcare needs during her declining health.

She holds a special place in the hearts of a host of nieces and nephews in the Oliver, Stokes, and Brown families who she thought so much of and had so much expressed love.
