Anna Pearl Walker Gifford, 86, Anna Pearl Walker Gifford, 86, of Buena Vista, died in her home surrounded by her family on Saturday, November 10, 2018. Anna was fondly know by many as “Dutch”. Dutch was born on May 16, 1932 in Buena Vista, Ohio to Connie and Adrian Walker.

Dutch grew up and has many memories in Huntington, WV and her hometown of Buena Vista, OH with her loved brother and sister, Kenny and Helen. She married the love of her life Howard Gifford on December 24, 1948. The couple settled in Buena Vista where they raised their two daughters, Debbie and Teresa.

Dutch was a devoted and young mother. She was talented at sewing, crocheting, and baking. No matter how crippled her hands had become, she could always create something special for those she loved.

She will always be remembered for her sense of humor, her love to celebrate, and her ability to lighten up a room with laughter. Dutch was proud to become a grandmother to her five grandchildren; Tracy, Terry Dale, Melissa, Greg, and Jason. She anticipated the arrival her great grandchildren and great great grandchild with so much love for each and every one of them.

She filled her family’s hearts with so many great “Howard and Dutch” stories. Besides her family, Dutch enjoyed her many friendships, her morning tea, the Ohio River and the many boats that traveled them. She was a wonderful woman that was loved, is missed, and will always be cherished.

She is proceeded in death by her mother and father Conrad and Adrian Walker, her husband Howard Gifford, a daughter Debra K. Gifford, her grandson Terry Dale Hornikel, her son in law Larry Maynard, a sister in law Joyce Walker, and her best friend Edna Blevins. Surviving are her precious daughter who lovingly cared for her, Teresa Diane Maynard. Her grandchildren: Tracy Hornikel Siller, Melissa (Doug) Davis, Greg (Jennifer) Maynard, and Jason Maynard.

Her great grandchildren: Jonathan Taylor, Jeremy Hosey, Kaitlynn Hosey, Hannah Maynard , Alexis (Austin) Adkins, Kelsey Davis, Josh Davis, Jack Cremeans, L.T. Maynard, and Mikina Maynard. Her great grandchildren: Lily, Bennett, and Kent. She was anxiously awaiting the birth of her forth great great grandchild due in May.

Her Brother Kenneth Walker, her sister Helen (George) Kegley. Her sister in laws, Janice (Forrest) Spires and Ettlalene Gifford as well as many special nieces and nephews. Dutch was married at the age of sixteen at the Buena Vista Methodist Church.

Throughout the years that same church shared a special place in her heart. A few years ago, Dutch officially made that church her “little church” and bought it. It is only fitting that her funeral be held in that same church that she always treasured.

Funeral Services will be 1:00PM Thursday November 15, 2018 at the Buena Vista Methodist Church with Greg Cooper officiating and interment in McKendree Cemetery. Friends may call at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth from 5 to 8PM on Wednesday and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Condolences may be sent to www.
