Anna’s Obituary Ann (Anna) Michaeleen Howard O’Hare (August 25, 1933) died peacefully on May 11, 2019. Loyal, independent, and beloved. Ann was the fifth of seven children of Michael and Anna (Derrig) Howard, both immigrants from County Mayo, Ireland.

She was raised in the Detroit area, and graduated from St. Gregory High School. She married, and raised six children. With her own children raised, she went to college for the first time, eventually earning a Bachelor’s Degree magna cum laude from Arizona State University.

She had a life-long love of reading, which she passed on to her children and grandchildren, and spent many years working at the Farmington Hills Library. She also had a life-long fear of water, which she kept hidden from her children (thanks, Ma). She is survived by her six children Kathleen Pilar of San Antonio, TX, Mary (Nick) Boscia of Aiken, SC; Thomas O’Hare of Au Sable Forks, NY; Jimi O’Hare, a traveler of the USA; Ann Margaret (Annie) Mullins of Melvindale, MI, and Nancy O’Hare of Athens, GA, as well as 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Also survived by her best friend and youngest sister Julia B. Howard of Ventura, CA and her wonderful nephew Michael J. Howard of Highland, MI as well as numerous loving nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Patrick J. Howard, Thomas A. Howard, Austin A. Howard, Michael J. Howard and her sister Mary Howard Stolberg. Anna’s family will receive guests at the funeral home on Thursday, May 23, from 2-8 pm, with a 7 pm prayer service.

A funeral Mass has been scheduled for Friday, May 24th, at 10 am (9:30 instate) at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church (23815 Power Road, Farmington). Anna will be laid to rest following Mass at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield, Michigan. Memorial contributions in Anna’s memory may be made to the Friends of the Farmington Library.
