Obituary for Anthony DeCenzo Sr. Anthony DeCenzo Sr., SFC (Ret Army) age 89, of East McKeesport, peacefully passed away at home on Tuesday, April 24, 2018. He was born on October 28, 1928 in Pitcairn, the last son of the late Constance and Dominic DeCenzo. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his wife of 59 years Rosemary; grandson Daniel Cano; and his sisters and brothers Julia, Elena, Frank, Victor, Louis, Joseph, Emma, Mary and Philomena.
He is survived by his children Anthony Jr. (Michele), Louis John (Diann), Leeanna Backus, Carol Olson, Michael Victor (Tammy) and Constance (Daniel) Paulino; 12 grandchildren Robert and Dana “Rosie” Backus, David Cano, Nikko, Nicole, Nathan, Nia, Courtney, Joshua and Jordan DeCenzo and Zoe and Olivia Paulino; 6 great grandchildren with one on the way; and many loving nieces and nephews both here and in Hawaii. After the Army, Anthony worked for Union Railroad, Gateway Senior High School and City and County of Honolulu where he retired as Supervisor, Waste Management. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Allegheny Health Network Hospice for their loving care and support.
Friends and Family will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Forgie-Snyder Funeral Home, 1032 Broadway, East McKeesport, 412-823-8083. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Michaels Church in Pitcairn. Interment with military honors will follow at the Monongahela Cemetery in Braddock.
