Arlee Ann (Schmid) Laue was born to John and Emma (Albers) Schmid on October 22, 1932 on the family farm north of Graf, Nebraska. She was baptized Nov. 18, 1932 at the Zion Lutheran Church, rural Johnson, Nebraska.

She was confirmed June 10, 1945 at the old St. John’s Lutheran Church in Tecumseh, Nebraska. Arlee attended Graf Rural School District #72 for Kindergarten and first grade and then Brush Hill District #16 second through eighth grade. She graduated from Tecumseh High School as Class Valedictorian in 1949.

Arlee met Eldon “Al” Laue at a dance in Johnson and they were united in marriage on January 21, 1951 at the old St. John’s Lutheran Church on Broadway Street in Tecumseh. After their marriage, Al and Arlee lived on Al’s parents farm, then moved by Elk Creek and later moved to the farm south of Tecumseh where she lived for 40 years until moving to the Tecumseh Manor in 2010. She worked for Tecumseh Building and Loan as a book keeper from 1949-1951 and again from 1955-1970.

Her husband Eldon passed away January 10, 1985. Arlee started classes at Goldcrest Retirement Center in 1988 to get her education to be a medication aide. She began working in November of 1988 at the Beatrice State Developmental Center and worked there until retiring in 1992.

Arlee was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Tecumseh since her confirmation. At St. John’s, Arlee enjoyed helping tie quilts for Lutheran World Relief. Before her husband Al passed away, Arlee enjoyed helping him on the farm and raising a garden.

Arlee moved to Ridgeview Towers in Tecumseh and later to Belle Terrace in 2017. She passed away at Belle Terrace on December 3, 2018 at the age of 86 years. She is survived by her brother, Melvern Schmid and wife Janice of Tecumseh, sister, Judy Nolte and husband Lowell “Smiley” of Tecumseh and numerous nieces and nephews.

Arlee was preceded in death by her parents and husband Eldon “Al” Laue. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 6, 2018 at the St. John’s Lutheran Church, Tecumseh, Nebraska with Rev. Jonathan Rathjen officiating.

Visitation will be at the Wherry Mortuary in Tecumseh, Nebraska, Wednesday, December 5, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Memorials may go to the family’s choice. Interment will be in the St. Paul’s United Church of Christ (Maple Grove) Cemetery, rural Tecumseh, Nebraska, following the luncheon in the church basement. Online condolences may be left @ www.
