OBITUARY Arlene Virginia Larson May 28, 1926 – December 25, 2018 Arlene Virginia Larson, a longtime Barstow resident, passed away peacefully on 12/25/18. Arlene was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1926 to Donald and Irene Yates. She attended Sen High School in Chicago, married and had her first two children there before moving to Barstow, California after her divorce in the early fifties.

She fell in love with and married Lowell Larson in 1951, and they were married for 56 years until his death in 2007. Arlene worked for many years in Barstow as a medical assistant to Dr. Bedford. She loved to read, play Keno at the casinos, work on arts and crafts, fish, and discuss politics and philosophy.

Arlene had a sharp intellect and wicked sense of humor, and she was a loving wife, mother and friend. Arlene was preceded in death by her husband Lowell Larson, son Michael D. Larson, daughter Donna Larson Fairchild, parents Donald R. Yates Sr and Irene Yates, sister Betty Jean Oest, brother Donald R. Yates Jr, and grandson Todd Hardman. She is survived by her daughter Karen (Mark) Blackwell, son Lance Larson, niece Denise Yates, nephew Donald R Yates III, 12 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held on Thursday, January 3rd at 1:00pm at Mead Mortuary, 36930 Irwin Road, Barstow, CA.
