ARLINE LAUGHLIN NORRIS Arline Laughlin, 95, passed away on November 6, 2018. She was born in New Cumberland, Ohio on August 29, 1923. She was the daughter of the late Ora and Henry Sproul.

On August 14, 1941, she married William F. Laughlin and they enjoyed 38 years together before his passing in February 1979. Together, they had three children, two daughters and a son. She then married Glenn Norris and they enjoyed 12 years together before his passing in September 2008.

A lifelong resident of the area, Arline enjoyed volunteering and helping others. She enjoyed going to Church, spending time with her friends and being with her family. She was active in the local Grange for many years and enjoyed making her bean soup every year for the Tuscarawas County Fair.

She was active in the Purple Heart for Veterans and many other organizations. She also was a coffee bar volunteer at the Trinity Twin City Hospital of Dennison for many years. Known for her amazing ability to bake, she enjoyed making pies for her family and special events throughout her life.

To her family and those who knew her, Arline was a loving mother, grandmother and friend who will be dearly missed. She is survived by her children, Martha (Marty) Chewning of Merritt Island, FL, and her son Bill (Patty) Laughlin of Dennison, OH along with 5 grandchildren; Todd (Julie) Chewning of Santa Maria, CA; Natalie Stock of New Philadelphia, OH; Jamei Chewning Brown of Merritt Island, FL; Shelby (Matt) Sweeney of Sparta, NJ and Leslie (Doug) Besozzi of New Philadelphia, OH. She is also survived by 10 Great Grandchildren; Dinae Reed of New Philadelphia, OH; Danielle (Travis) Martz of Ladera Ranch, CA; Matthew Brown of Great Falls, MT; Zachary Stock of New Philadelphia, OH; Hunter and McKenzie Chewning of Santa Maria, CA; Brooks and Brynn Besozzi of New Philadelphia, OH and Madison and Kieran Sweeney of Sparta, NJ.

She was also blessed with 6 Great Great Grandchildren. Arline is preceded in death by her parents, Ora and Henry Sproul, her husband William Laughlin, her husband Glenn Norris, her daughter Carolyn (Sue) Stafford, her son-in-law James Chewning and Natalie Stock’s husband, Devin Stock. A memorial service celebrating Arline’s life, officiated by Reverend Lisa Fisher, will be held on Saturday, November 10 from 12:00 – 2:00 pm with a funeral service immediately following at Uhrich-Hostettler English Funeral Home, Inc. in Uhrichsville, OH.

Burial will follow at New Cumberland cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please honor Arline by giving to Community Hospice of Tuscarawas County.
