Arline’s Obituary On January 19, 2019 at St. Bernards Regional Medical Center, God, in His infinite wisdom, came down to claim one whom we all loved—Arline Williams Mobley. She quietly closed her eyes and answered the call to go live with Him. During the transition, she was surrounded by family.

Sister Arline’s life on earth began July 18, 1943 in Forrest City, Arkansas. She was born to Deacon Elton and Carline Williams. She was the youngest of two sets of twins that, along with her, included one older sister and two older brothers.

Her parents and an older brother, Edward, preceded her in death. Arline professed hope in Christ at an early age and was baptized into Beth Salem Missionary Baptist Church by Reverend George W. Pitts. As a young member of Beth Salem, she served as a member of the Junior Choir and took part in the Baptist Training Union (BTU).

Later in life at Beth Salem, she served as a member of the Missionary Society, as a Sunday School teacher, as part of the Wednesday night bible Study Class, as Church clerk, and as secretary of the Sunday School. Sister Arline met Charley Mobley and they became friends. They were married February 24, 1990.

Arline is often described as a feisty person who loved spending time with her husband, her family, and friends. After eleven years of marriage, her husband preceded her in death. Sister Arline received her elementary and secondary education in the Forrest City Public School System.

After high school, she attended Arkansas A.M. & N. College (now the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, receiving a Bachelor of Art Degree in Elementary Education. She later attended Arkansas State University (ASU), receiving 30+ hours in additional studies. She taught in the Forrest City School System until she retired in 1995.

After retirement, Sister Mobley kept herself busy by volunteering at the Food Pantry, the Senior Citizens Group of NEA, the St. Francis County Retired Teachers Association, and traveling with family and friends. Her survivors include her twin sister—Earline Williams Smith of Jonesboro, Arkansas; brother—Elton (Elnora) Williams, Jr. of Walnut Corner in Barton, Arkansas; sisters—Cornelia W. (Harry) Durham of Memphis, Tennessee, Ernestine W. Hunter of Bolingbrook, Illinois, Christine W. (Caliph) Wyatt of Bellwood, Illinois; eight nephews, seven nieces, a host of cousins, other relatives, friends, and one sister-in-law—Carolyn Williams of Belleville, Illinois. Friends and relatives are invited to post messages & share memories.
