SPRINGFIELD – Armand “Buzzy” Bazegian, 86, of Grafton, died Friday, May 11, 2018 at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Worcester. Born in Ludlow on Dec. 8, 1931, he was the son of the late Tatos & Louise (Hagopian) Bazegian.

Buzzy was raised in Indian Orchard and lived in Springfield for many years. He later returned to Ludlow and had been living in Grafton for the past 4 years. Buzzy was an Army veteran of the Korean War.

He worked for the City of Springfield Department of Veterans’ Services from 1962 until he retired in 1983 as its Deputy Director. Buzzy’s family always came first and he will be remembered as a considerate man who always thought of others. He was a skilled craftsman and a perfectionist on all of his projects.

He had previously been a member of the Knights of Vartan and was a mason. Following his Korean War service, Buzzy played semi-pro football, was a drummer in a band known as the “High Hats” and was an avid golfer. The brother of the late Beatrice and Martin Bazegian, he is survived by his wife of 55 years, Joan E. (Giustina) Bazegian, his twin sons, Michael Bazegian and his wife Cheri of Westfield, Geoffrey Bazegian and Diedre Corbett of Sutton, his daughter, Tracy Bazegian Meleski and her husband Michael of Grafton, as well as his seven grandchildren, Michael, Tyler, Kyle, Dillon, Alanna, Spencer and Giustina.

Funeral Services for Buzzy will be held on Thursday, May 17, with Calling Hours from 11am-1pm at St. Mark Armenian Church, 2427 Wilbraham Rd. , Springfield, MA, 01129 with a Funeral Service to follow in the church at 1pm. Burial will be held privately by his family.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Buzzy’s memory may be made to the church. Nowak Funeral & Cremation Services of Springfield is assisting the family. For additional info.
