Arnald Soares De Barros , October 10, 1931 — December 08, 2018

Arnaldo Barros, 87 of Hollywood, FL passed away on December 8th, 2018. He was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on October 10th, 1931 to Francisco Soares de Barros and Maria de Jesus Oliveira Alves de Barros. Arnaldo had a cheerful disposition, loved to laugh and tell jokes, and a smile that was infectious.

He believed in the binding power of a handshake and that your word was your bond. When he was 10 years old he got his first job delivering newspapers and was forced to dropout of school in the fifth grade to help support his family. In the early 60’s he came to the United States with very little money and a pocket full of dreams that, through hard work and sacrifice, he would ultimately turn into reality.

He started his own business in New York City, a city he loved because of its grit, ambition, endless opportunity, and the fact that it moved at a tireless and frenetic pace, much like he did. He also loved to be around people, the more diverse the better, and made friends with everyone he met. He fathered 3 children and proudly put them all through college providing them with opportunities he never had, and in 1969 found long and everlasting love with his wife Maria who stood by his side, in sickness and in health, til death do us part.

He was a kind and gentle man who loved his family and will be missed by those whose lives he had the privilege to touch. Arnaldo was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Antonio and his sisters Ana de Lurdes and Maria Alice. He is survived by his wife Maria, his three children, Diana, Mark (Elena), and Jennifer (Frank).

Arnaldo will also be fondly remembered by his three grandchildren, Emma, Guillermo and Adrian, by his sisters Sophia and Yolanda, and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. www.
