Memorial Services for Arnold M. Stadheim, of Albert Lea, will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, May 7, at First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. Interment will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday at Lakewood Cemetery, for those who wish to attend. Military Honors will be accorded by Albert Lea Veteran’s Organizations.

Visitation will be from 3-5 p.m. Sunday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, 2210 E. Main, Albert Lea. Arnold died at Thorne Crest Senior Living Community on Wednesday, May 2, 2018, surrounded by his family. He was 90.

He was born on January 9, 1928, in Freeborn County the son of Louis J. and Evelyn (Hellie) Stadheim. Arnold graduated from Albert Lea High School and served in the U.S. Navy. After graduating from watchmaking school in Kansas, he attended the Minnesota School of Business .

He went to work as a watchmaker and jeweler for Fred’s Diamond Shop. Stadheim’s Jewelers was established in 1953. In that same year, he married Evelyn Opdahl and they began their journey together.

They were blessed with five children Beth, Steven, Mark, Paula and Jeffrey. Arnold was a member of First Lutheran Church of Albert Lea, where he had served a term as President of the congregation. He had also enjoyed his years as a member of the Kiwanis.

He had served on the National Jewelers Association Board, the American Gem Society Board and was Past President of the Minnesota Jewelers Association. Arnold had a great love for his family, always taking interest in them and their lives. His surviving family includes: daughter Beth and her husband Edward Ordalen of Albert Lea and children Jennifer (Brody Paulson) and Ahne(Tad Lunning) and great grandchildren Easton and Evelyn; son Steven Stadheim and his wife Thresa of Austin, TX, and children Ryan and Adam (Lake), son Mark Stadheim and his wife Terri of Albert Lea and children Ross, Alex(Hannah), Grant and Nathan, daughter Paula Knutson of Northfield, MN and children Laura (Fred Semmer), Molly and John Peter; son Jeffrey Stadheim and his wife Lori of Mason City, IA, and children Emily, Katie and Peter; brothers: Stanley and his wife Babe Stadheim of Albert Lea, MN, David and his wife Marilyn Stadheim of Albert Lea, sister: Annabelle Allan of Los Angeles, CA, sisters-in-law: Janet Stadheim of Albert Lea, Blanche Stadheim of Rochester, MN, Janis Stadheim of Lake City, MN, Berdine Honsey of Emmons, MN, Ruth Schmidt of Golden Valley, MN, Valborg Larson of Enumclaw, Washington; brother-in-law Tony Kocanda of St. Paul, MN; also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Arnold was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Evelyn in 2009, son-in-law David Knutson, brothers: Edward, Louis, Richard, John and sister Edna Mae. In lieu of flowers memorials suggested to The Arnold and Evelyn Stadheim Nursing Scholarship Fund or charity of donor’s choice. In honor of Arnold Stadheim- Stadheim Jewelers of Albert Lea, will be closed on Monday, May 7.
