Obituary for Artis Barksdale (Stokes) Artis A. Barksdale, 79, passed away Saturday, June 23, 2018. Born on January 22, 1939 in Bessemar, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late David and Savannah Stokes. Artis worked as a secretary for 15 years at FWCS and worked also at Lutheran Hospital as a pharmacy tech prior to her retirement.

She enjoyed shopping, sewing, camping, and “A Good Meal”. Artis loved her family and cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Michael (Kelly) Barksdale, Kim (Floyd) Lewis, Dawn Barksdale, Lisa Barksdale; brothers, Clarence (Jill) Stokes, David (Vicki) Stokes Jr.; sister, Nette Mae (William) Underwood; 9 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her grandson, Floyd Lester Camryn Lewis IV. Service is 11:30, Friday, July 6, 2018 at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church with calling from 10:00 am until the service. Burial in Lindenwood Cemetery, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
