Audrey Lucille (Pope) Knowles, 89, of Mason City, IA died at her home. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Audrey was born the oldest of six children, on September 20, 1929 in Rockwell to Frank and Myrna (Wepking) Pope.

She graduated from Hanlontown High School. Audrey worked for neighbors as a mother’s helper; which is how she was introduced to her husband, Delivan Knowles. On August 8, 1948 the couple was united in marriage at the Methodist Parsonage in Rockford.

Audrey enjoyed gardening, baking and sewing. She preserved produce from the garden, raised broiler chickens and had laying hens. Throughout her life, Audrey was employed by the Hy Line Chick Company and Crystal Sugar Company.

Her interests included playing cards, listening to polka music and reading. She also liked watching the Lawrence Welk show on Saturday nights, Mary B’s Polka and in her later years: Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune and Antique Roadshow. Audrey was involved in her children’s activities with school, 4-H and church.

Those left to cherish her memory, include her children, Marshall Knowles of Manly, Lorna (Darwin) Meyer of Sheffield, Clifford (Jolene) Knowles of Urbandale and Leslie (Sandy) Knowles of Rockwell; grandchildren, Jody Knowles, Jennifer (Mike) Harris, Tawnya (Paul) Willits, Brian (Hollie) Meyer, Melissa (Gerod) Rinkenberger, Aaron Knowles, Breanna Knowles, and Michelle (Matt) Robison; great-grandchildren, Lexie and Emily Harris, Maddie and Jacquie Willits, Cade and Emma Meyer, Harper and Gavin Koppen, Abel and Oliver Robison; brother, Richard (Carolyn) Pope; sister, Frances Theilen; sister-in-law, Donna Pope; brother-in-law, Ron Pethick; and special pet, “the bird”. She was preceded in death by her husband, Delivan Knowles; parents, Frank and Myrna Pope; grandson, Spc. Joshua L. Knowles; daughter-in-law, Cathy Knowles; brothers, Lloyd and Roger Pope; sister, Lorraine Pethick; brother-in-law, Ron Theilen and sister-in-law, Myrna Pope.
