Obituary for Audrey Mills Audrey Marie (Goodman) Mills passed away in Lawrence Memorial Hospital on Monday, December 11, 2018. Audrey was born June 10, 1923, in Tovey, IL, to Otto E. Goodman and Mary E. (McQuiston) Mills. Audrey graduated from Madrid High School, Madrid, IA, in 1941.

After graduation, she worked as a stenographer in Des Moines before marrying Robert Hernan Mills in Denver in 1947. She had two sons, Lee Goodman Mills, who died in 2018, and Hans Michael Mills. Bob and Audrey raised their sons in Sioux Falls, SD, she then moved to Des Moines, IA, where she worked for Bankers’ Life.

They retired to Grinnell, Iowa. After her husband Bob’s death in 2003, Audrey moved to Ottawa, KS. Audrey enjoyed handwork such as sewing, embroidering, crocheting, knitting, and quilting throughout her entire adult life.

She joined two quilt guilds in Grinnell, and was a member of Sunflower Piecemakers Quilt Guild in Ottawa before moving to Brookside in Overbrook, KS. Audrey is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Hans Michael Mills and Debra Whitlock-Mills; her daughter-in-law, Catherine Ann Ecroyd; three grand-daughters, Stefanie Lee Mills; Joanna Catherine Mills; Rebecca Mary (Mills) Alderman and husband Alex; and two great-grandchildren, Max William and Sophia Fay. Because Audrey believed every child should have a Christmas present, donations may be made to KVC Holiday Heroes in care of Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, Ottawa.
