OBITUARY Augustine Villagomez Jr. October 24, 1933 – July 20, 2018 Augustine Villagomez (84), entered eternal peace on July 20th, 2018. Augustine was born in Houston in 1933 to Agustin and Enedelia Villagomez and grew up in the Magnolia Park Neighborhood where he was a member of The Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Augustine was a veteran of the United States Navy having proudly served aboard the U.S.S. Piedmont in theater during the Korean War.
Following an Honorable Discharge, he returned to Houston where he married his sweetheart Estela Trujillo in November of 1954. Estela and Augustine enjoyed 63 years of marriage and together they had six children. Augustine was a machinist having spent many years developing his career as an operator and foreman at CAMCO and Tools International Corp before finishing his career at Lathe Products Inc and Industrial Rubber Products mentoring several family members and friends along the way.
As a member of Queen of Peace Church in Houston, Augustine supported the parish by coordinating the annual BBQ Bazaar in the mid 1970’s where he helped raise funds for the church and school where all of his children attended. In 1978 Augustine moved his family to Lafayette, Louisiana and joined his brother Jack in business. He became a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Broussard, Louisiana where he served as an usher for many years and supported the local Knights of Columbus council.
Augustine is preceded in death by his son Alex Villagomez and daughter Cecilia Villagomez Palmer and siblings Ramon, Jack, Inez, Louis, Daniel and Anita. He is survived by his wife Estela and daughters Theresa Nesson, Magdalen Romero, Monica Brown and son Phillip Villagomez along with daughter in-law Linda O. Villagomez and son in-laws William Nesson, Darrell Romero and Michael Bowers. Augustine’s twelve grandchildren include: Kristy Desoto, Brian Nesson, April Lafleur, Katherine Freshour, Adam Romero, Kimberly Bartelheim, Grant Edward Brown, Amy Vargas, Jason Romero, Angela Villagomez Desormeaux, Emma Elizabeth Brown and Anita Marie Villagomez.
Surviving siblings include Carlos Villagomez, Margaret Bazan, Mercedes Gonzalez, Maria Fillingame Buzek and Irene Salazar. Augustine also has several surviving great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. Visitation and viewing will be Friday July 27th from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 3011 Telephone Road, immediately followed by a Funeral Mass.
Interment will be at 1:00 P.M. at Forest Park East Cemetery in Webster, Texas. The family will host a catered lunch reception starting at 2:30 p.m. at the home of Denise Fillingame Guajardo, 7808 Dixie Drive in Houston (Former Hidden Oaks Bed and Breakfast).
