Aurora Genevra (Bigio) Krebs 3/16/22- 11/27/18 – Aurora (Bigio) Krebs, 96, a lifelong resident of Merced, California, passed away peacefully on November 27, 2018, at her home. Aurora was born on March 16, 1922, in Merced, to Joseph and Josephine(Descalzo) Bigio, immigrants from Italy. She attended Joseph LeConte, John Muir and Merced High School.

As a young girl, she helped handle her father’s Merced Bakery business transactions as a translator. Following high school, she began her career working for Bank of America, Merced Irrigation District, Merced County Clerk and later returning to and retiring from Bank of America after 20 years of service. On September 24, 1944, she married Louis Krebs at Our Lady of Mercy Church, Merced and joined Louis in Georgia, while he was stationed at Ft.

Benning. Upon returning to Merced, their only child, Christine, was born. One of the joys of her life was caring for her grandchildren, nieces and nephews and watching the children swimming at the neighborhood pool.

Aurora was an avid reader throughout her life. She enjoyed going out to dinner and dancing with Louis and vacationing in Santa Cruz, a family tradition, and Lake Tahoe/Reno. Her favorite pastime was walking/visiting with friends at the Merced Mall.

On Sunday, after Mass, she joined her sisters and friends for breakfast regularly. Aurora was a member of the OLM/St. Patrick’s Church and a Volunteer at Mercy Hospital. She was also a former member of the OLM Parents Club and a Girl Scout Leader.

For many years she was the bookkeeper for Norris Dance Studio in exchange for her daughter’s dance lessons. Aurora is preceded in death by her parents and stepmother, Palmira Bigio, her husband, Louis Krebs; sister, Norma DeLong; stepbrother, John Brignardello and nephew, Stephen DeLong. She is survived by her daughter, Christine Krebs-Belluomini (Michael), sister, Joan Rogina, granddaughter, Kimberley, great grandchildren Justin, Sharlynn and Andrew and great great grandchildren Kennedy and Alex and many nieces and nephews .

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 6th, at Ivers & Alcorn Funeral Home, 901 West Main, Merced, CA, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. On Friday, December 7, 2018, at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 21st and Canal Streets, Merced, CA, the Rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to OLM/St. Patrick’s Church, or charity of your choice.
