Obituary for Barbara Ann Forbes (Sullivan) Print Barbara Forbes, age 78, of Hudson, passed away Sunday, February 17, 2019 at her residence. She was born August 30, 1940, daughter of the late Benjamin and Elsie Smith Sullivan. She was a beloved educator for 30 years.
Following her retirement, she enjoyed volunteering her time by visiting those in hospice care, both at home and in the facility. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Wayne Sullivan; one great nephew, Andrew Tuck; step-mother, Vera Sullivan. Those left to cherish her memory are one daughter, Yulonda Forbes (Randy Minton) of Hickory; sister-in-law, Henrietta Sullivan of Hudson; two nieces, Lisa Tuck (Victor) of Roanoke, VA, Kim Jarrett-Riley (Gene) of Hickory; great-nephews, David Jarrett (Leslie) of Leland, NC, Alex Jarrett of Hickory; numerous family members and close friends.
The family would like to thank Caldwell Hospice staff for their love and care through the journey. A special thanks to the following caregivers, Janet Dillard, Krista Hunt McCorkle, Mary Jackson, Tonya Helton and Dottie Taylor. Your love for her has not gone unnoticed.
The family will receive friends at Mackie Funeral Home on Thursday, February 21, 2019 from 1:00 to 2:00 PM. The funeral service will follow in the chapel at 2:00 PM with her cousin, Rev. Thomas Smith officiating.
Burial will be at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Caldwell County Hospice and Palliative Care, 902 Kirkwood St., Lenoir, NC or Mt.
