Barbara Ann Huntley June 30, 1943 – February 03, 2019 Share this obituary View/Sign Guest Book Age 75, formerly of Lake Elmo passed away Sunday, February 3, 2019. Barb was born in 1943 to her parents, Lillie and Donald Williams Sr. in St. Paul, MN. Barb grew up in the McDonough neighborhood on the East Side of Saint Paul with her 3 siblings and was a 1961 graduate of Johnson High School in Saint Paul.
On July 24, 1965 she married Ted Robert Huntley and they continued to live in Saint Paul starting their family and her poodle addiction. (Mom: Pebbles, Buffy, and Jordan are excited to have you rub their bellies and sit on your lap again). The couple shared joys and sorrows, sickness and health for 53 years.
They were blessed with 2 sons, Nathan and Christopher, then moved to Lake Elmo in 1980. While Lake Elmo and Stillwater became their home, Barb still kept close ties to her East Side roots, from filling her prescriptions, seeing physicians, or frequenting favorite restaurants in St Paul. At age 18, Barb started to work part time at Welcome Homes caring for developmentally disabled children – a job she would make into a 47 year career.
Although the company changed names over the years her presence was the only constant, her dedication to the kids and coworkers was limitless. She kept buildings up and running, saw to staff needs to provide care and love for the hundreds of kids and adults they served, building an enormous extended family with those who worked at People Inc & Axis Minnesota. Her love was shared generously and her laugh and sense of humor lit every room she entered.
Barb’s quick wit, boundless energy and endless kindness motivated all to live in the moment and better the world sitting right in front of them. Barbs talents were many, Barb Huntley, amateur PhD, MD, COO, CPA, XYZ, certified wallpaper remover, birthday hostess, fisherman, gardener, lumberjack, painter, pyromaniac, and walking yellow pages for maintenance services in St Paul. She did it all and was intimidated by nothing.
A beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, co-worker and friend who loved to entertain and would drop everything to be there for you in need. Mom’s love for her family was her priority and she showered them with compassion, time, hugs and kisses and attended countless t-ball, baseball, soccer, basketball and track meets. She enjoyed traveling on cruises, camping with the RV, boating, fishing and spending time at the cabin in Rice Lake, Wisconsin.
Many birthdays, dump dinners, Christmas tree fires and martinis were enjoyed with the family at the cabin. Eleven years ago a stroke silenced this wonderful gregarious woman and for that we are sad to have missed out on her building more memories with her grandchildren. Ted remained a patient, loving, and thoughtful caregiver.
Nineteen months ago she entered Cerenity Care, the family would like to express our deep thanks for the wonderful help, love and care given by Cerenity Care Center staff in Saint Paul. Barb was preceded in death by her grandparents and father. Barbara is survived by her husband Ted of 53 years; mother Lillie Williams, son Nathan (Shannon), son Christopher (Chelsie); 6 grandchildren, Quinlin, Camille, William, Amelia, Joseph and Eva; sister Nancy (Mike) Logas, brothers Donald Jr. (Marion), Michael and numerous nieces and nephews, aunts, cousins and dear friends.
